The president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of Bolivia, Salvador Romero, announced on Wednesday his resignation from the position he had held since December 2019, and also to the vocal of this institution.
Romero, who made his announcement reading a letter in a meeting with the press, had been elected as a member of the TSE in November 2019 by the then interim president, Jeanine Añez.
A month later, the Plenary Chamber of the TSE elected him as president.
In his statements, he assured that he accepted the commission to integrate and preside over the TSE in the most challenging time since the return to democracy.
“The reason why I accepted the task of integrating and presiding over the Supreme Electoral Tribunal in the most challenging time since the return to democracy has been fulfilled, as the essence of the promises I made when assuming a position that interested me was fulfilled. lasting service to reconciliation and democracy in Bolivia ”, affirmed Romero.
His announcement comes shortly after the subnational electoral process has concluded with the delivery of the respective credentials to all the new regional, municipal and departmental authorities.

"I leave as I arrived, a man free from ties, independent of political forces or group interests," Salvador Romero finally expressed, whose resignation will take effect this Thursday.
