Nuremberg- On Wednesday morning (April 28th) a car came off the road on the federal highway B466 near Gunzenhausen (Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district) and crashed into the Altmühl.
As the police headquarters in Middle Franconia * announced, the driver died at the scene of the accident.
Around 10:30 a.m., a 67-year-old man drove his Nissan on the B466 federal road near Gunzenhausen in the direction of Nördlingen.
It is currently unclear why the man got off the road.
In any case, the vehicle got into oncoming traffic at a parking lot on the south bank of the Altmühlsee, drove down an embankment and fell into the Altmühl.

First aiders and alerted officers from the Gunzenhausen police station, who arrived on site a few minutes later, went into the water and rescued the 67-year-old driver from the vehicle.
Despite immediately initiated resuscitation measures, the man died at the scene of the accident.
The subsequent rescue measures lasted until around 12:30 p.m.
The fire brigade was able to pull the vehicle out of the water with the help of a winch.
The Gunzenhausen police station is now carrying out further investigations to clarify the course of the accident.
In addition, the public prosecutor's office ordered an expert to be consulted.
