JEP calls former FARC chiefs to declare for crimes in Cauca, Colombia

Former commanders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) Juan Carlos Ramírez, Diego Ardila Merchán, Édgar López Gómez and Jorge Torres Victoria - currently a senator - were called to testify before the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) for events that occurred in the department of Cauca in Colombia, when the aforementioned were part of the FARC.

The JEP's Reconnaissance Chamber requested the appearance of the former chiefs of the demobilized FARC guerrilla to narrate "exhaustively and in detail" everything they have knowledge of in the so-called "case 05" in which forced displacement is investigated. , kidnappings, murders, abuses, recruitment and other crimes that occurred in northern Cauca and southern Valle del Cauca.

"The Reconnaissance Chamber adopted this decision after having received more than 27 reports submitted by the victims, the Prosecutor's Office and the Attorney General's Office, and having made 30 versions of former FARC combatants," the JEP said in a statement.

Until this Tuesday, none of the aforementioned characters has issued statements about the JEP's request.

In November 2018, the Chamber for the Acknowledgment of Truth, Responsibility and Determination of Facts and Conducts of the JEP opened case "05", which includes the acts allegedly committed by members of the Farc and the public force between the January 1, 1993 and December 1, 2016.
