Loiret: an employee dies struck by a machine in a flour mill

A drama that occurred this Tuesday morning in a flour manufacturing company in Poilly-lez-Gien, in the Loiret.

A 30-year-old employee died from a machine at the very beginning of the morning, reports France Bleu on Wednesday, April 28.

The victim had started duty at 5 a.m.

"

There is no direct visual witness

", explained the public prosecutor of Montargis to France Bleu, "

since the man was alone on the floor of the company at the time of the accident

".

Another employee was, however, on the same production line.

According to him, the man would have detected "

a jam

" in a grinder mixer, and wanted to unblock it.

He would then have advanced his head in the machine which was not stationary and which would have partly crushed it.

Company staff in shock

Quickly on site, the firefighters and the Samu could only note the death of the young employee who lived near Gien.

The gendarmes in criminal identification arrived on site in turn and made the first observations.

The machine has been placed under seal.

On the other hand, the investigators were only able to carry out very few hearings on Tuesday, because of the very significant state of shock of the colleagues on the spot, specifies France Bleu.

The victim assistance association was contacted to provide them with support.

"The labor inspectorate was on site and began an in-depth investigation

said Loïc Abrial, the Montargis prosecutor. On the judicial level, the magistrate explained that he had opened a flagrant investigation for "manslaughter in the context of work". An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday on the body of the victim.
