The facts date back to December 18, 2019, in Lyon.

That evening, Jérémy - 21 years old at the time - celebrated the end of his exams with comrades from his business school, INSEEC.

Now is the time for good humor: it's time to unwind, to laugh, to simply meet up.

Each will then go on an internship and then come the end of studies before entering working life.

An aggression of unheard-of violence

To mark the occasion, the students privatized a nightclub on the Place des Terreaux. Before taking to the dance floor, Jérémy and his friends met just behind, Place de la Comédie. It's 2am when everything changes. The small group is approached by two individuals. They ask them for a cigarette but, in reality, they seem to want to do battle.

Everything accelerates when one of the newcomers, Nicolas, punches a friend of Jeremy's.

The latter, who was steward for Olympique Lyonnais and played rugby, intervenes to calm things down.

In an instant, Jérémy takes a blow from Nicolas of incredible violence: the young man falls to the ground, totally knocked out, before his attacker kicks and punches him in the head.

"

He went after an unconscious boy, there was a desire to finish him off

An individual already convicted

During the hearing, the aggressor admitted the facts while minimizing them. “

He says he was jostled by Jérémy and that he defended himself, while Jérémy intervened. He also explains that he did not think that it would lead to such a result

”, relates Me Didier Saint-Avit. This 27-year-old individual "

claims to be acting but does not live on anything,

" says the lawyer. Placed in foster care at 14, habitual alcohol and cannabis user, he has previously been sentenced three times for violence, including fights and a slap on an ex-girlfriend. He's already been in prison. As for his accomplice, a young "

a little lost

In his twenties, he has never been convicted.

The evening of the facts, he tried to strike a blow before trying to remove Nicolas, almost shocked by the violence of the latter.

We could have considered going to the Assize Court for this case,

” says Didier Saint-Avit, but a faster judicial response was favored by the family.

The sanction gives satisfaction to Jérémy and his parents.

They consider that it is a suitable sanction

”, continues the lawyer.

Jérémy is trying to rebuild himself.

He is now very severely disabled and very cognitively impaired.

His permanent damage is estimated at at least 70% and he now uses a wheelchair.
