The Foreign Minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, said on Wednesday that Mexico will begin to package the Sputnik V vaccine at the national level and that a Mexican state company is already working with the Russian Investment Fund, which markets the vaccine.
«I would tell you that Birmex, the state company - it is a Mexican state company that was created decades ago to produce and distribute vaccines - is already working with the Russian Investment Fund to do the filling and packaging in Mexico and then the complete production of combined form of Sputnik V or Sputnik Number 2 or Light, or the one that unfolds, ”Ebrard said during a press conference after a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

"We are going to cooperate very closely to maintain this support, Mexico has the determination, the will and we have found a good disposition for the Mexican company Birmex to participate in the final packaging and filling of the vaccine," said Ebrard.
"A second result is that this is in the medium and long term, not just now, but cooperation for the next few years."
The packaging of the vaccine in Mexico can begin from May, according to the official Sputnik V twitter account.
More than 1,100,000 people in Mexico have already been vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine, according to official data from the Mexican government.
"The results are very positive," said Ebrard.

Mexico is expected to receive 800,000 more doses on Thursday and an additional 500,000 doses on May 3.
Mexico has signed an agreement to receive a total of 24 million doses of Sputnik V.
