Fear of the covid-19 variant detected in India has caused Spain to impose a ten-day quarantine on passengers coming from that country.
The measure, which will take effect at midnight on Saturday, May 1, will be in effect for 14 days.
According to the Official State Gazette published this Wednesday, this period may be shortened if after seven days the passenger takes a covid-19 test with a negative result.

Despite the absence of direct flights between the two destinations, India is now adding to the list of third countries to which Spain imposes quarantine for passengers who come from there.
In total, there are thirteen nations where variants of coronavirus other than those that usually circulate in Spain have been detected, including Brazil, Peru and Colombia.
"Of the cases of covid-19 that are currently detected, 94%, practically all, are of the variant found in the United Kingdom," said the director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies, Fernando Simón on Monday.
Until this Tuesday, the Ministry of Health of Spain has notified 3,496,134 positive cases of covid-19.
