The West Kowloon Cultural District M+ Museum will open at the end of this year. Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei’s "Perspective Study: Tiananmen Square" exhibits were blasted by the establishment camp earlier.

According to the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, the opening exhibition will display 1,500 pieces of the M+ collection series; there will also be a series of themed exhibitions, including the British sculptor Anthony.

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority stated that the M+ Museum is fully engaged in the final renovation of the various spaces in the building and moved the M+ collection into the restoration and storage center.

The museum will soon begin to install works and objects from the M+ collection, with a view to opening it to the public at the end of this year.

The opening program included a series of themed exhibitions, including "Hong Kong: Here and Beyond" which introduced Hong Kong's unique visual culture; and "M+ Sigg Collection: From Revolution to Globalisation" which explored the development of Chinese contemporary art from the 1970s to the 2000s.

In addition, there are separate discussions on international design and architecture and international visual arts, including "Things, Spaces, Interactions" and "Individuals, Networks, Expressions" by creators from Hong Kong and around the world.

The exhibition also includes works by the famous British sculptor Anthony.

In 2003, Gormley and more than 300 Guangdong villagers produced more than 100,000 clay sculptures and created them into a large-scale installation art "Anthony Gormley: The Land".

The exhibits will be displayed in 33 exhibition halls of the museum, and the opening exhibition will display about 1,500 visual art works, mobile video works, design works and architectural archives of the M+ collection series.

The M+ opening event will kick off with three weekend celebrations, and there will be specially designed programs.

Activities include talks and guided tours, live performances, workshops, sensory experiences, screenings and digital programs.

M+ will regularly hold public events such as forums, seminars and workshops.

M+ also has three theaters, which will screen about 700 films each year, covering art films and popular new films.
