Biden enters his first 100 days in office with some promises kept, but others pending.

Just one day before his first 100 days in office, President Joe Biden will deliver his first accountability speech to Congress and the country tonight, in a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives.

The Democrat's speech - which will be similar to the customary State of the Union (#SOTU) speech - will focus on the Administration's priorities, the achievements made in this first short stage, as well as the future vision for America.

An analysis by Noticias Telemundo on the first three months of Biden's term found that the president has managed to fulfill more than some of his predecessors in the same amount of time, but that there are still key promises to materialize, mainly in relation to his immigration agenda. .

Here's what you need to know about the speech:

When and where?

The speech is scheduled for 9:00 pm ET and will be held in the House of Representatives room on Capitol Hill.

It is expected to last about an hour.

What will Biden talk about?

The president is expected to take the opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of his first 100 days in office and present his vision for the future of the country.

His Administration's three most important developments so far have been the large-scale coronavirus vaccination program, the passage of his $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus and economic aid law, and the reinstatement of the Paris climate accord.

It is common for presidents to begin this first message to Congress by talking about the economy.

Biden plans to present his "Plan for American Families," a $ 1.8 billion project that would include preschool education and two years of free higher education at a

for all students in the country.

This is the second part of its Build Back Better program, which it partially announced last month and included investments in infrastructure and the creation of well-paying jobs.

He is also expected to speak of proposals to launch police reforms.

Who will attend?

In previous speeches by other presidents, each member of Congress could bring a guest, so the House of Representatives often hosted as many as 1,600 people.

But it will not be like this this year.

The COVID-19 pandemic and threats of attack on Congress have led to a reduction in attendees.

The total number of attendees will likely be around 200 people, socially distanced

It will be the first time ...

This will be the first time that two women have sat behind the president during his first speech to Congress.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi;

and Vice President Kamala Harris will take the stand behind Biden's back.

They are the two immediate officials in the line of succession.

"It's very exciting.

And it is wonderful to make history.

It was about time, ”Pelosi said hours before the speech during an interview with MSNBC television.

Who else will speak besides Joe Biden?

As is customary, an official from the opposing party, in this case the Republican Party, will respond to the president's address.

This time it will be Senator Tim Scott, Republican of South Carolina, who will speak immediately after Biden's speech.

Scott is the only black Republican senator and one of the potential presidential contenders for 2024.
