After a year in which the masses refrained from reaching the grave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai on Lag B'Omer, hundreds of thousands of people are participating in the celebration tonight (Thursday). The many celebrants will light bonfires, dance and cut the hair of 3-year-olds as part of the "halka" tradition.

So far, 52 people have needed medical assistance during the incident, an 80-year-old man lost consciousness in the Rashbi Zion plaza, and was evacuated to the hospital in an unstable condition and after resuscitation, and a 40-year-old man underwent an acute allergic attack. 50 more people 

In the best tradition, the first lighting in Meron will be of Bayan storks, which will begin around 20:00.

Afterwards, many Hasidic sects will be lit in various complexes, including Karlin, Toldot Aharon, Breslav, Shuvi Banim, and more.

Along with the Hasidim, the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Shlomo Amar, will hold a bonfire for the Sephardic public, with the participation of Chief Rabbi David Lau.
