The forced closure of the shoe outlet on Wettersteinring, threatened by the city of Dachau, had caused a stir.

Now the ÜB / FDP parliamentary group is calling for the so-called “Dachau List” to be checked.

Dachau - The forced closure of the shoe outlet on Wettersteinring, threatened by the city, caused heated discussions in March.

As the local newspaper reported, the city wants to prohibit the owner of the property from using it as a “shoe store with textiles”;

instead, the shop may only be operated as a “textile shop with shoes” or - according to the so-called Dachau List decided by the city council in 2011 - as a grocery store.

While the owner of the shoe outlet is now suing the city, the local politicians are also concerned with the question of the extent to which the Dachau range list is up-to-date and appropriate.

The ÜB / FDP parliamentary group now even applied for a review of the list, the purpose of which was supposed to be to protect downtown retailers from competition in the industrial estates.

Because: “The so-called Dachau list includes numerous items under 'center-relevant assortments', ranging from antiques and works of art to weapons and zoo items, animals, and pet food and care products. We assume that both supply and demand have changed over the past ten years. In addition, both the city and the retail sector went through structural changes during this period, ”said FDP city councilor Jürgen Seidl.

By checking the list from 2011, it could "ideally also incorporate findings from the local supply concept for the large district town of Dachau, which was developed in 2020 with external support".

Seidl and his colleagues Peter Gampenrieder and Ingrid Sedlbauer see the city's economic development "in a central role, in order to involve the local retailers in the considerations right from the start".

Basically, according to Seidl, the “controversial discussion” about the shoe outlet on Wettersteinring showed “how sensitive the topic is for everyone involved and that broad acceptance is the basic requirement for continued successful use of the instrument”.
