A strong sign: In the middle of the pandemic, the Freising is getting a new inn.

It opens in the former Café Central.

Freising

- It has been an open secret since 2016: The Augustiner brewery has bought the building at Oberen Hauptstrasse 24 in Freising.

Now the time has come: after extensive renovation and renovation work, the “Freisinger Augustiner”, as the new restaurant will be called, will be opening soon.

The art of brewing is thus returning to the walls that have been known as Daurer-Bräu since the 19th century and that have been home to Café Central for the past few decades.

Thomas and Louise Sattler are the couple who want to give the building the atmosphere of traditional Bavarian pub culture.

A brewery was located here as early as 1529

Archives document the use of the property as a brewery since 1529. The monument is likely to date from the 17th, perhaps even the end of the 16th century.

Michael Loibl von Geroldshausen acquired the property in 1862, then swapped it with Joseph Daurer, the landlord in Ludwigsgarten, on today's General-von-Nagel-Strasse.

Daurer opened the inn in November 1865. The more than 40 years of management by the Daurer family led to the property being known as "Daurer-Bräu".

This history is now being breathed back into life.

Louise and Thomas Sattler are the tenants, both have extensive and varied experience in the catering industry.

Due to the corona, the renovation and thus the opening of the “Freisinger Augustiner” had been delayed somewhat after the building permit from 2019.

And due to the corona, you will now start with take-away meals, as the Sattlers say.

"This way the Freising people can get a taste of our culinary orientation." There is great hope that the progress in vaccination will lead to relaxation in the coming weeks and months, which will then enable "normal" guest operations.

The tenant is looking forward to the redesigned inner city

The "Freisinger Augustiner" is already looking forward to the time when the construction work in the upper main street leading to the opening of the Moosach has been completed.

Thomas Sattler is certain that the wait will be worth it and that the redesigned city center will be “a gem”.

The "Freising Augustiner" wants to help that this part of the old town is filled with life.

The new inn, designed by the Freising architects Fiedler, consists of two guest rooms in the main building: there is the Schwemme with 69 seats on the ground floor, which is the heart of the economy, and there is the parlor with 74 seats on the first floor.

In the smaller part of the building there will be a bar with space for 42 guests.

140 guests could later be seated in the outdoor area.

Freising's Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher considers the concert and congress hall planned at the airport to be a "great opportunity".

But a Green councilor holds against it.

From May 1st, the compulsory stable for poultry in the Freising district will be lifted.

But since the HPAIV risk has not yet been completely averted, an appeal is made to the owners.

From a global perspective, freedom of the press is under great pressure.

In Germany, too, journalists have increasingly threatened.
