It's back to cycling: In the entire Oberland and thus also in the Miesbach district, city cycling will take place from June 19 to July 9, 2021.

The organizers from the district of Miesbach, the Alpine region of Tegernsee Schliersee (ATS), the city of Miesbach and the market town of Holzkirchen have come up with some innovations to get even more people excited about cycling and enable a corona-compliant implementation.

City cycling in Miesbach: organizers want to motivate even more people

The ATS will develop its own tours that connect the individual communities on attractive routes for cyclists. Holzkirchen is planning, among other things, a cargo bike show and a foundry bike auction, and in Hausham a baker bakes his own “Radl-Brezen”. In addition, a flyer for the district is made and distributed, in which all actions are communicated. “We're still open to ideas here,” says Tim Coldewey, who is driving the project at ATS. Service providers who offer special city bike campaigns can contact the organizers. This can be, for example, a self-service bike repair station, driver safety training or a corona-compliant refreshment station.

The rules for city cycling are unchanged: Individuals as well as groups such as cycling groups, clubs or companies can log in and register at www.stadtradeln.de.

Every registered user can then use the Stadtradeln app to record their bike kilometers during the campaign from June 19 to July 9, 2021 and, at the end, the kilometers traveled by the individual participants within the region are compared with each other.

Miesbach: District supports cycling campaign

"Our goal is to convince even more people to ride a bike with this campaign," explains Mona Dürrschmidt, mobility manager in the Miesbach district. Last year the district of Miesbach - although the campaign took place in October - achieved second place behind the district of Weilheim-Schongau with 109,849 kilometers cycled and 16 tons of CO2 saved. This year the city of Miesbach, the municipalities of Gmund, Bad Wiessee, Weyarn, Rottach-Egern, Otterfing, Hausham and the Markt Holzkirchen will be there. Whose home municipality is not listed can drive for the district. The district of Miesbach offers the free RADar app during the 21 days of city cycling! at. Cyclists can use it to report disruptive or dangerous spots in the cycle path to their local government.

Local politicians are also increasingly affected by messages of hatred, insults and threats. Now there is a new support network. That's a good thing, says Miesbach District Administrator Olaf von Löwis. You will receive a selection of all relevant news and stories in our free newsletter regularly and directly by email.
