Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, released two new photos to mark their 10th wedding anniversary.

The couple, who were married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, posted the portraits on Wednesday before their anniversary.

The photos were taken at Kensington Palace in London this week by photographer Chris Floyd, who shared them on Instagram.

Floyd said that he had visited Cambridge, eastern England, for the first time and that by "astonishing coincidence" that same day he was asked to photograph the couple to mark their anniversary.

"It was exciting to spend time with them at Kensington Palace, especially as the Duchess is quite the enthusiastic photographer," Floyd wrote on Instagram, wishing the couple a "happy anniversary."

William and Catherine's wedding

The star-studded ceremony of William and Catherine's wedding 10 years ago was attended by around 1,900 guests and watched by millions of people around the world.

Catherine wore a white and ivory satin wedding dress with lace sleeves made by British designer Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, while William wore the uniform of an Irish Guard colonel, with a scarlet jacket and blue sash.

The couple greeted an audience of thousands from the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the ceremony, as many more lined the streets to celebrate the marriage.

The couple first met as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

It was made public that they were a couple in 2004 when they were photographed on vacation together in the Swiss ski resort of Klosters.

They have three children: 7-year-old Prince George, 5-year-old Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who turned three last week.

Earlier this month, the royal family gathered for a more somber occasion as the nation and supporters around the world mourned the death of William's grandfather, Prince Philip.
