Almost two years after the disaster in which Fuldy Schwartz, a truck driver who fell on a light fixture in the Eurovision complex in Israel, was killed, the prosecutor's office decided to close the case.

Now, Fuldy's family has decided to go to court to fight the culprits, and has filed a letter of appeal to Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit.

"Someone take responsibility. My husband came to work at the place on a certain day and did not return," his widow said in a conversation with Walla !.

"He was in a safe place. They did not find the answers, so who is to blame? SG Foldy is to blame. It's the easiest."

She added that "someone needs to take responsibility. Not in the area of punishment - just for taking responsibility."

The disaster occurred the day before the opening of the Eurovision celebrations. Schwartz, who worked as the truck driver, arrived at the compound in Tel Aviv, and when he realized that no one was approaching him, he began unloading the truck alone. During the unloading, a box of a light fixture weighing hundreds of kilograms fell on him and was crushed underneath. Schwartz was rushed to the hospital and died two days later from his injuries, at the age of 66.

Attorney Mark Leizerowitz, representing Schwartz's family, claimed that “there were many failures in Fuldy's accident. First, the safety teams were released that day from their jobs at the Eurovision complex. The safety officer heard about the incident on television. "

He claimed that the accident occurred after the production here 11 determined that the safety crews were unnecessary, in order to save expenses." They thought they had finished leading, and that the safety crews were no longer needed. its. "If Fuldy had come to unload the day before, the disaster would not have happened," Leizerovich added.

Only about two months, almost two years after the case, the prosecution informed the family that it did not intend to file indictments and the case was closed due to "lack of evidence".

According to Leizerovich, "Fuldy's family feels very bad on two levels: one that took so long just to be told 'there is nothing to do'. The family sent a healthy and functional person to work and he did not return. And the other, most painful, that the prosecution blames. Foldy himself in everything that happened, "he added.

"Since the prosecution closed the case, we have asked for all the investigation materials," he continued.

"We have now filed an appeal, and the decision on whether to file an indictment passes to the Attorney General. We hope the relevant bodies will make the right decision. We will then file a civil lawsuit to receive the monetary compensation due to the family for the unnecessary disaster that befell them."

"No person, entity or authority has been found to be negligent"

The State Attorney's Office stated in response that "after examining all the evidence in the case, it was decided to close it, as no person, entity or authority could be found to whom negligence can be attributed at the threshold required in criminal law. An appeal was filed against this decision."

The Broadcasting Corporation here 11 stated that "the discharge crews and the company that employed them were not related to the corporation or its responsibility. All allegations were investigated in real time, also by the police, and no findings were found indicating the corporation's connection to the incident.
