They died of thirst and starvation: Spain located 24 bodies of immigrants off the coast of the Canary Islands
The Air Force rescued three people who survived in the heart of the ocean for 21 days, after the rest of their dangerous journey partners died before they could reach Europe.
It is one of the main migration routes from Africa to Europe, and at least 90 people have died since the beginning of the year

Spain has rescued 24 bodies of African migrants, including two minors, after apparently dying of thirst and starvation while trying to reach the Canary Islands. Their wooden boat was first spotted by a Spanish Air Force plane as it hovered 490 km from the island of El Hierro on Monday.
According to rescuers, only three migrants - two men and a woman - survived, but they barely managed to move. Spain to the Canary Islands said they were evacuated by military helicopter to the island of Tenerife and taken to hospital in critical condition.According to rescuers from the Spanish Air Force, survivors said they had been in the heart of the Atlantic for 22 days.
The perilous journey from the west coast of Africa to the Spanish archipelago has become a major route for migrants and asylum seekers choosing from the wars, violence and poverty on the continent, phenomena that intensified during the Corona plague.
Migrant boats have to travel a distance of 400 to 1,500 km, depending on the point of departure, to reach the territory of Europe. Often, their food, water and fuel run out before they reach their destination.

The United Nations Immigration and Refugee Agency said in a joint statement that about 4,300 migrants and refugees had arrived in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the year, while 90 people, including women and children, had died on their way. The islands, compared to 23,000 people who managed to reach their destination.However, the organization admits that the real death toll is probably much higher.
