A particularly exciting event took place in the evening (Monday) in Bnei Brak when Avigdor Hayut, whose 13-year-old son was killed in the Meron disaster, met Sergeant Rami Alwan who saved the lives of Avigdor and his 10-year-old son Shmuel. The meeting took place outside his home, where He sits seven with his family

Avigdor recounted the crucial situation that changed his life forever: "I'm on the floor, Remy is to my left and he yells at me 'Give me your hands I'll pull you.' I told him, 'Leave me, take the boy out.'"

Avigdor went on to say: "I saw Rami vomiting, starting to cry, but staying there .. trying to do everything he can. I see him out of the corner of his eye pulling the son, pulling him out. I came out in moderate condition. "Nothing would have remained. And Samuel - if he had stayed there a little longer - he would not be with us anymore."

"We can live together if only we want to"

Avigdor continued.

"I came to say a huge thank you to Remy. Remy is a symbol and example. When Remy was above me, he did not ask me which party I belong to, what stream I belong to or if I am a Bedouin or if I am a Muslim. Remy saved! I mean we can live together, if only We want. It is in our hands. We have one option to do it in disasters, as it happened, and there is another option to do it on a daily basis. What happened happened .. The Holy One is the leader of the world, knows what he is doing ... Rami saved "Shmuel. Shmuel owes his life to Rami."

At this point Avigdor gave Rami a symbolic gift.

"Rami, friends in the Gemara said, 'Everyone who saves one soul from Israel - as if there is a full world.' Rami, this is the globe, this is the world. When you saved the child - for me you saved the whole world."

Sergeant Rami Alwan excitedly explained that there was no training that could have prepared them for the unique situation created in the place: “We heard shouts. There was a mess until we realized what really ... I got to Avigdor, above him. I tried to pull Samuel. I could not do it alone and another policeman came with me. We pulled him. I approached the boy, he did not move or react. I thought of the worst, and yet we did not give up. I saved a human life. It warms the heart".
