The epidemic has ravaged Hong Kong for more than a year, and there is still no sign of easing.

The intermittent suspension of face-to-face teaching in all schools in Hong Kong has caused a radical change in the mode of learning and teaching. Teaching has been greatly affected, and sports training and competitions are no exception.

Xiao Yangxing from the Rotary School of the Church of Christ in China is a member of the dodge ball Hong Kong team.

Currently, the Hong Kong dodgeball men's and women's teams are ranked in the top 5 in the world. Xiao is a member of the U18 women's team.

Student Xiao said: "Training under the epidemic is indeed affected, but we will still have continuous physical training. We hope that recovery can be easier to adapt to than during training or competition." When asked about the unforgettable memories during training in the past, Xiao said the most The deep feeling is that the time spent with family and friends is reduced.

In addition, there are frequent injuries during training. Fortunately, the coach and teammates take care, support and encouragement, and eventually the difficulties can be overcome.

Teacher Lin Deqiang of the School Physical Education Division recalled the development of the evasion movement in school: "A few years ago, it happened that the Hong Kong evasion movement association went to school to promote the evasion movement. Five groups of people participated in the evasion movement. The evasion movement slowly became a craze in the school. The school encouraged several talented students to form an evasion school team for technical and tactical practice and hard physical exercise. As a result, The school team won two runner-ups and one championship in the "Hong Kong Dodge Game Championship" in the first three high school groups within a short period of time, and later won the "Hong Kong Dodge Game Super League" championship. Due to outstanding performance of the students, the school was invited to Macau Participated in the first Asian Dodge Game Invitational and competed with ten teams from Macau and Chinese Taipei, and finally won the third place. Several key students of the school team were invited to join the Hong Kong team due to their outstanding performance in various competitions. , Went to Taiwan to participate in the Taiwanese tournament, and ended up winning the championship!” Another Hong Kong evasive team member, Zhang Zhaoqiang who was studying in Form 6 talked about the secret of winning: “Such an impressive achievement is all because of Lin SIR’s continuous supervision and Encourage and accompany us to stay at school every Wednesday to four days to practice until dark before leaving. Although the practice takes up a lot of my personal time, I can be selected for the Hong Kong team and prove that my efforts are worthwhile. I hope that the epidemic will end as soon as possible and can represent Hong Kong to Japan Participate in the event."

Sang Zihao, who is also in sixth form, has been exposed to archery since elementary school.

After entering middle school, I was recommended by the school to join the Arrow Club to receive professional guidance and focus on training "recurve bow".

In 2020, Sang won a number of individual honors, including the fifth place in the men's recurve bow group at the Hong Kong Junior Indoor Archery Elimination Tournament (Qualifying), and the champion of the Men's Junior Division at the Asian Youth Indoor Archery Open (Hong Kong 2019).

Because of his outstanding performance in sports, the school nominated him to compete for the Hong Kong Student Athlete Award and encouraged him to continue to pursue his dreams in sports after graduation.

Student Sang confessed: "Although every practice is very hard and time spent, I will persevere and practice hard whenever I think of the support of my family, teachers, and coaches. I feel very helpless when public competitions have been cancelled during the epidemic. Now learn to be patient and try to stay in shape while waiting.”

The students of the Rotary Middle School have always had outstanding performance in sports. In the past, many students were successfully trained to join the Hong Kong team for long-term training.

Principal Xue Changhua said: "The school has promoted potential education through a whole-school participation model since 2017, and developed students’ interest and potential by deliberately arranging suitable activities and environments. Two years ago, the school introduced a multi-learning festival every day in the schedule. Let students have the opportunity to participate in activities of interest from more than 30 different activities. After class, students can choose to register on their own or participate in advanced learning classes recommended by the teacher. From today's outstanding results, especially sports performance This proves that this "from popular to elite" promotion model is very effective."

Lin said: “I can’t enter the Hong Kong Sports Institute for training at the moment. I can only practice running laps outside the Chengmen River. Athletes wearing a mask to practice running is extremely hard.” Before the epidemic, Lin would run 15 kilometers every day after school. Go home and do your homework.

What drives him to train hard every day?

"I used to think that I was inferior to others. Later, I realized that through hard training, I felt that I was able to do better than others. In the second year, I won the championship and broke the record of the General Assembly. If you give up, you will eventually regret it.” Lin did not forget to thank the teacher for the cultivation and support of their elite group of athletes: “I really appreciate the teacher’s support, especially Lin SIR. He not only encourages us not to give up in sports competitions. At the same time, it also encourages us to extend our fighting spirit and confidence in sports to learning. Especially in this year's DSE, even if the epidemic is changing repeatedly, we still have to work hard to face it and do our best!"

Lin Bingtai often participates in local and international competitions.

Forgetting behind, working hard, and running towards the goal. The school inspired the students' sports potential. , Has bred a lot of the stars of the sports world, let them understand that even if they encounter setbacks, they must be unyielding in the "epidemic" situation, do not stop and look back, and insist on moving forward."
