The number of people vaccinated against the coronavirus in Germany is increasing rapidly.
If Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has its way, the corona rules will soon be relaxed for those who have been vaccinated.
He urges that the corresponding planned regulation be adopted this week if possible.
The regulation should "ideally be decided in the course of this, at the latest in the next week," said Spahn after consultations with the Corona cabinet.
He pointed out that the submission must also be decided by the Bundestag and Bundesrat.
Government spokesman Steffen Seibert said a little later that it was in the interest of the government to bring about a decision in the Bundestag and Bundesrat as soon as possible.
According to SPIEGEL information, there will be a switching conference between Chancellery chief Helge Braun and the heads of the state chancelleries on this Monday at 5.30 p.m.
It should be discussed whether the ordinance can be voted on in the Federal Council on Friday.
The draft now agreed in the federal government is the "starting point" for talks with representatives of the Bundestag and Bundesrat, said Spahn.
According to the draft regulation, people who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus should soon be able to meet again without restrictions (read more about the draft here).
At a private meeting in which non-vaccinated or convalescent people also take part, someone with the appropriate protection would be treated "not as another person," the submission says.
Vaccinated and convalescents would also be put on an equal footing with people who can show a negative test result.
This is supposed to make shopping or going to the hairdresser easier.
EU entry from third countries is possible again for vaccinated persons
According to Spahn, there should also be easing for vaccinated people when traveling.
He approved of the EU Commission's proposal to make tourist trips to Europe from third countries possible again, the minister said.
It makes sense that people who have been vaccinated with a vaccine approved in the EU are allowed to enter, says Spahn in Berlin.
Whether other vaccines would also be recognized must be examined.
He also assumes that an EU-wide valid digital vaccination certificate will be available by the end of June.
