Covid-19: all over the world, cemeteries are starting to run out of space

France is no exception to this phenomenon. With more than 100,000 deaths since March 2020, France is facing an unprecedented demand in its cemeteries.


This is yet another consequence of the health crisis: all over the world cemeteries are starting to run out of space.

With more than 120,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic, Italy is not spared by this phenomenon.

In Rome, employees of several cemeteries demonstrated in mid April to denounce the number of bodies waiting to be buried.

According to them, some have been in storage since the beginning of the year.

"Every day, we are told that the cemeteries are blocked and that they lack space to welcome the dead",

denounced the president of the Italian federation of funeral workers, quoted by Reuters.

The Italian capital recorded 4,763 more deaths between October 2020 and March 2021 than in the same period the year before, according to the company in charge of management
