The Hauts-de-Seine vaccinodrome opened its doors this Monday afternoon, where a rather young audience crowded, after the opening of the v

For this first afternoon of vaccination in the Paris La Défense Arena complex in Nanterre, the seven boxes were installed on the synthetic lawn.

For the inauguration only.

It is then in the spans of the stands that everyone will be injected a first, then a second dose of Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19, as part of a one-way journey that means that a person never returns to his steps.

The vaccination "super center" received an initial allocation of 5,000 doses this week.

With the aim of ramping up to 14,000 doses, i.e. 2,000 daily injections carried out by the Paris firefighters, on this site co-piloted with the Red Cross, the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture services and the Department.

"The Hauts-de-Seine is the second department which vaccinates the most but also the one with the greatest potential", underlined this Monday the prefect, Laurent Hottiaux, on the occasion of the inauguration of the vaccination center, advancing the figure of 440,000 injections recorded since the start of the vaccination campaign on January 18.

An even larger audience expected after deconfinement

Vaccinations until now reserved for seniors and people over 55 years of age with co-morbidities and carried out in the 23 municipal outpatient centers of the department.

Since last Saturday, it is the over 18s suffering from certain pathologies who are eligible and this, without medical prescriptions.

A message obviously of course since the vast majority of people who have registered on Doctolib to be vaccinated at the Arena are under 50 years old.

"I made an appointment and it is over": these young people who do not have priority who are vaccinated with the nerve

Like Benoit, 34, inhabitant of Neuilly and diabetic.

Or Marie, 46 years old, resident of Courbevoie and who comes to be vaccinated because her mother has cancer.

Ou Sacha, 24, a chiropractor student from Bezons (Val-d'Oise), and Garance, 26, a medical student who lives in Paris.

"I am an intern and I received a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine before it was reserved for over 55s," explains the young woman.

So, I come here to do a second dose of Pfizer since these are the recommendations.

Everyone therefore has a good reason to be vaccinated.

"We trust people who have registered and who will, in their journey here, have discussions with health professionals," replied Secretary of State Adrien Taquet, questioned on the age - obviously very young - of candidates in the queues.

"The objective is to vaccinate 80,000 people per week in the Hauts-de-Seine", continues Adrien Taquet, while the department will soon cross the first step of 60,000 doses injected over a week.

"And the strategy is based on deliveries which will increase further," he adds.

“The La Défense district will gradually be reoccupied and businesses will reopen.

This center will therefore be able to accommodate a younger and wider audience, ”also underlines Georges Siffredi, president (LR) of the Hauts-de-Seine departmental council, whose offices are located in a wing of the multimodal building.

Some try their luck without being eligible

"We will soon have 25 vaccination centers in the department since Saint-Cloud will open on May 17", also announces Laurent Hottiaux, who relies on the complementarity between "the need for proximity" and "the opening to new target audiences. ".

There is therefore no question of slowing down the vaccination which finally seems to take off.

"You must not be hypocritical, if you want to vaccinate a lot, you have to open up very wide", breathes moreover Florence, resident of Courbevoie, who admits to being "a little less than 55 years old", and not suffering from any comorbidity .

For ten days, she has been scrutinizing the availability of meetings on the platforms and the number of slots made her try her luck without feeling guilty.

“I am a schoolteacher and around me, almost all of my colleagues are under 55 and yet we should still wait,” she adds.

So I signed up telling myself that I could be turned away.

But, in the end, nothing was asked of me… ”
