José Rafael Albrecht, old glory of San Lorenzo and Argentine football, died

He was 79 years old and played two World Cups. He was a legendary defender and a superb penalty kicker.

José Rafael Albrecht

, old glory of San Lorenzo de Almagro, died this Monday at the age of 79.

The tucuman was one of the great figures of Argentine football in the 60s. Born in Atlético Tucumán, he spent the best years of his career at the Boedo club, from where he joined the Argentine National Team, with which he played the World Cup. Chile 1962 and England 1966.

Albrecht had been hospitalized since last week in the intensive therapy of the Spanish Hospital from complications suffered by the coronavirus.

The posting of Héctor Scotta, another glory of San Lorenzo, fired José Rafael Albrecht.

Albrecht was part of the defense of the undefeated champion of Metropolitano 68. He was also one of the defenders with the highest number of goals in the history of world football, converting 95 goals in 506 games.

He was an excellent executioner of penalties.
