A young man was wanted for more than 40 crimes when he suddenly disappeared earlier this year.

Now he showed up at Munich Airport - probably rather involuntarily.

Munich Airport

- Federal police arrested a repeatedly wanted intensive offender at Munich Airport on Friday, April 30, 2021.

He had apparently come up with a plan on how to avoid legal prosecution in Germany - but had probably not considered all internationally valid agreements.

The man, who is originally from Somalia, first arrived in Germany in May 2017.

The now 23-year-old applied for asylum.

After the asylum application was rejected, the then 19-year-old received an acquiescence notice and was placed in an asylum center in Swabia.

Munich Airport: criminal commits dozens of crimes - then he disappears from the focus of the authorities

But the man from East Africa repeatedly came into conflict with German law.

Shortly after his arrival in Swabia, the police became aware of him because of the first offenses.

In addition to more harmless offenses such as damage to property and trespassing, the man was soon responsible for criminal offenses such as threats and dangerous bodily harm.

Although he was briefly detained several times for his offenses, he always relapsed after his release.

Munich Airport: Police arrest intensive offenders - he wanted to flee to Austria

At the beginning of 2021, the young man suddenly disappeared from the investigators' focus. At this point in time, there was still an enforcement arrest warrant for trespassing, two residence investigations from Schweinfurt and a pre-trial arrest warrant from the Memmingen district court for 38 different offenses against the Somali.

There was also an invitation to refuse entry from Switzerland against the young man. Obviously not wanted by the federal neighbors, the 23-year-old finally tried his luck in Austria. However, he makes the mistake of applying for asylum again when he enters the country. When examining his documents, the Viennese authorities quickly discovered that the 23-year-old had already applied for asylum in Bavaria - and sent him back to Germany as part of the Dublin Agreement. There he was received by federal police officers who, while checking the personal details, became aware of the pending search notices. The 23-year-old was immediately arrested and taken to a Landshut detention center.
