The Secretary-General of the Campaign to Lift the Siege on Syria, Dr. Samir Abu Saleh, affirmed that the Syrian presidential elections are a constitutional and national entitlement par excellence dictated by the articles regulating this process in the constitution of the Syrian Arab Republic, which was approved in the 2012 referendum.
Abu Saleh clarified in a statement to SANA that the People's Assembly called for elections to start a new presidential phase in accordance with the constitution, which stipulates the necessity of implementing this presidential election activity for the presidential site at the end of the previous presidential term.
According to Dr. Abu Saleh, the Syrian people received this constitutional procedure with hope and enthusiasm, in an expression of a renewed national position that was touched in previous wartime joints, the last of which was the People's Assembly elections for the third legislative round, indicating that the presidential elections will enter a new phase represented in preparing for the electoral programs for candidates, after which the candidates' campaigns will start. As one of the manifestations of real democracy waged by the Syrian people.
