For the director of Human Rights Watch for the Americas, the current situation is not different from what Venezuela experienced with the late President Chávez.

José Miguel Vivanco considers that the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, "is a potential Hugo Chávez."

This is due to the way in which it has managed to control the powers, according to the director of Human Rights Watch for the Americas.

Vivanco says that what the Central American country is experiencing is not a matter of polarization but rather the way of governing of a "tyrant."

According to Vivanco, the current situation is not different from what Venezuela experienced under the late President Chávez or Peru under former President Alberto Fujimori.
