Hohenpeißenberg - "We tried to knit a budget without turning the tax screw - with a quantum of optimism," said Mayor Thomas Dorsch (non-party) after the chamberlain Martina Rauch presented the draft budget charter for 2021. "We have already said in the past few years that we depend on the economy to keep it that way," said Dorsch.

Nobody could have expected this economic slump, which was caused by the corona pandemic and the measures that were taken to contain it. When the economy will recover, and if so, how it will then go on, will be seen, said the mayor: “That’s all reading coffee grounds” it is necessary to develop other sources of income. "Then we have to see where we can generate something, where can we save and where are loans needed," said the mayor.

“When would the deadline be to increase something?” Asked local councilor Rupert Weingartner (CSU). "We are in the air because the state does not communicate whether and if so, how much support there is for the municipalities for this year," replied the mayor: It is simply an uncertain time. "The decision to increase taxes will not be taken lightly in Hohenpeissenberg. The local tax rates were among the lowest in the entire county. “That should be a sign of how much we value our businesses,” says Dorsch. So far it has always been possible to offer this low rate.

The Hohenpeißenberg local council then unanimously approved the budget charter presented. The budget for the current year 2021 has a total volume of 10.75 million euros, of which 7.3 million euros are allocated to the administrative budget and 3.15 million euros to the asset budget. The largest investment was the cost of purchasing (730,000 euros) and converting (800,000 euros) the former savings bank building into a children's home. Among other things, 50,000 euros were estimated for the digitization of the primary school, 42,000 euros for online services and the fiber optic connection of the town hall.
