A man was taken into custody, "
strongly
" suspected of the murder of his companion, in the parking lot of their building in Chartres, Chartres public prosecutor Rémi Coutin announced on Tuesday, May 4.

The victim, born in 1994, had recently given birth on April 11. The newborn was placed in foster care, Rémi Coutin told AFP. The companion "
was placed in custody for homicide by spouse
", because of the inconsistency of his explanations. "
Suspicions weigh heavily on him,
" said the prosecutor, adding that the young man, also born in 1994, has never been convicted by justice.

Around 1:00 am, a man living in Chartres contacted the fire department explaining that his wife had gone down to the garage of his building to look for something. Not seeing her return, he went downstairs and said he saw a man assault his wife and beat her. He says he put to flight this man he did not know. But that his wife was in cardio-respiratory arrest
”, explained the magistrate. “
On site, the firefighters noted the presence of a deceased woman. She has scratches on her face,

Still according to the prosecutor, the medical examiner, dispatched from Alençon, "
cannot, at the present time, comment on the causes of the young woman's death
". The coroner was simply able to determine that the injuries observed were compatible with the intervention of a third party. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning. The investigation was entrusted to the departmental security of Chartres.
