The eight-lane expansion of the A99 is progressing.

Now the plans for the section near Aschheim have been presented.

The local councils are concerned about more traffic in town.

Aschheim - After the construction site is before the construction site.

The eight-lane expansion of the A 99 is currently ending exactly at Aschheim. Now it goes on, the Autobahn GmbH (formerly Autobahn Directorate South Bavaria) presented the plans to the municipal council.

Johann Schmid, head of the Operations and Transport division at the Maisach branch, explained that the motorway would have to be expanded inwards because of the large median and that it could not be widened outwards, as is so often the case.

The sensitive task of the new construction phase, however, is the construction of three new bridges.

The structures on State Road 2082 and the Kirchheim / Aschheim motorway junction, on Erdinger Strasse and on the “Am Abfanggraben” road will be renewed.

"If the bypass goes through the place ..."

According to Schmid, the bridge on the state road next to the furniture stores and the DHL center is particularly busy.

The Autobahn GmbH decided that a replacement bridge would be necessary during the construction period due to the heavy traffic.

There is half a replacement bridge on Erdinger Straße between Aschheim and the center of Kirchheim, namely for pedestrians and cyclists.

Here, drivers have to use the state road during the construction phase.

The police is now looking for witnesses.

Mayor Thomas Glashauser (CSU) and the municipal councils made it clear to Autobahn GmbH that the planning of the construction site would not go off without a sound.

Several local councils expressed concern that the bridge closures would bring a lot of traffic to the town.

The traffic must be consistently directed to the bypass.

"If the bypass goes through the place, we have a hot year and a half ahead of us," said Günter Sassmann (FW).

Walter Wiedenhofer also expects "that the traffic will be diverted around Aschheim".

Construction work will start in 2023

Johann Schmid made it clear that you could allow 80 kilometers per hour on the construction site and no longer 60 as on the last construction site. This means that traffic on the A 99 can be kept flowing better. Mayor Glashauser recalled the renovation of the bridge on Erdinger Strasse. This will now be rebuilt and the municipal councils must be able to explain this to the citizens. The Autobahn planners justified the new building, among other things, with the fact that cycle paths are to be built on such roads and that Erdinger Strasse will get this expansion.

Glashauser also expressed the wish that the three renewals of the bridges should take place at different times.

Above all, it must be ensured that the Aschheim farmers can also reach their fields on the other side of the motorway.

One thing is already becoming apparent: the construction site in 2023 and 2024 will be viewed with concern in Aschheim.
