Sweida-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida estimated initially the production of 1654 tons of peas for the current season within the cultivated areas in the governorate amounting to about one thousand dunams.
The Director of Agriculture in Swaida, Eng. Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that the reality of the pea harvest for the current season is acceptable, and there is an increase in the areas planted in it compared to last season by about 130 dunums.
He pointed out that the directorate encourages the cultivation of the pea crop within the plans set for agriculture due to its economic feasibility and the nutritional value it carries, and the presence of a demand for food for the families.
It is noteworthy that the cultivation of peas in As-Suwayda is mostly irrigated and concentrated in the water wells areas, especially in the western region of the governorate.
