The voluntary group has been trying since 2017 in cooperation with the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) and the Working Group of Bicycle-Friendly Communities (AGFK) to help the community of Gmund to become bicycle-friendly. An almost continuous, partly marked bicycle protection strip on both sides of the road, as this can already be seen on a large scale in Bad Wiessee, was now the focus of the lively discussion.

This variant has already been prioritized by the administration and also by Agmunda.

Mayor Alfons Besel (FWG) summarized that it can be implemented quickly and inexpensively.

Peter Schiffmann, head of the lower road traffic authority in the district office, is skeptical of this variant, informed Besel. Schiffmann justified this with a high traffic load - 16,549 vehicles a day, including 773 trucks. He favored real bike paths of his own. But, according to Besel, the space is not there for that.

It was clear to everyone that the protective strip is not suitable for the Gmunder Berg: "A strip here would be crazy for the cyclists," warned Tobias Bauer (CSU). Even if he was not completely convinced because a protective strip simulated a false security, Michael Huber (Greens) still saw it as a "quick solution". Kozemko demanded that Gmund should be able to backtrack if it didn't work.

The protective strip was then approved against two votes, with the exception of Gmunder Berg.
