Neway, a karaoke chain group, has repeatedly confronted the Hong Kong Karaoke Song Copyright Alliance Co., Ltd. (HKKLA) due to copyright issues.
HKKLA filed a petition with the High Court yesterday (3rd), requesting the court to issue an order to wind up Neway Music Limitd.
According to the website of the Judiciary, the case has been scheduled for the first trial on July 28.
The Hong Kong Kara Song Copyright Alliance Co., Ltd. (HKKLA), representing the three major record companies of Universal, Warner, and Sony, requested the liquidation of Neway Music Limitd as a creditor.
The dispute over the copyright of songs between Neway and HKKLA has led to multiple lawsuits.
Neway once claimed that HKKLA's old song copyright charging plan was unreasonable and filed a lawsuit with the Copyright Tribunal.
The Tribunal ruled that the fee plan was reasonable in 2019, and Neway appealed to the High Court in 2020.
In addition, Neway also filed a lawsuit against HKKLA in 2020, alleging that the other party failed to provide the number of songs and music videos specified in the agreement in accordance with the agreement, and requested the other party to refund the overcharged fee.
