President Andrés Manuel López Obrador apologized on behalf of the Mexican State for the wrongs committed against the Mayan people.

During a ceremony held in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, López Obrador apologized for the repression they have suffered since the Conquest and the years after it.

The event was attended by the President of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammattei, who arrived in Mexico on Monday as part of a two-day tour.
