Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, one of the leaders of the ultra-Orthodox community, today (Tuesday) called on women to "become modest" following the disaster in Meron in which 45 people were killed during the celebration of Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yohai.

Kanievsky said that "this is the decree of heaven and we do not know the importance of heaven," adding that there is a "strengthening of the Torah and the perseverance of the Torah."

According to a letter published this morning in the Yated Ne'eman newspaper, which is associated with the Lithuanian current in the ultra-Orthodox sector, Rabbi Kanievsky also claimed that the laws of washing hands and the intention to bless should be strengthened, and that "one should feel close to God."
