The registration fee for participants aged 12 or under is £30 (HK$325), and a personal performance of up to 8 minutes can be recorded, including works by classical composers (such as Clementi Sonatina, Beethoven Bagatelle).
The registration fee for 15 years or younger is 40 pounds (HK$433), and a maximum of 12 minutes of individual performances must be recorded, including Baja's contrapuntal works (such as Invention/Sinfonia/Prelude and Fugue).
For those aged 17 or under, the registration fee is £50 (equivalent to HK$540), and a maximum of 15 minutes of individual performance must include the first movement of any piano sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert.
The three categories are divided into champions, runners-ups and runners-ups. The older the age group, the greater the prize money. For example, the winner of the group aged 17 or below will receive a prize of £750.
As for the best performers in the three categories, in addition to holding a solo concert at Steinway Hall, Marylebone, London, they will also receive the "Thomas Beecham Scholarship Award" (The Thomas Beecham Scholarship Award).
