Since May 2, the Czech Republic has no longer been a corona high incidence area.

You can find out what this means for cross-border commuters here.

The Czech Republic was classified as a high incidence area * for over a month.

This made entry more difficult, especially for cross-border commuters.

Now the neighboring country is a normal risk area again due to the lower number of corona cases.

Nevertheless, rules for entry still apply.

These general rules apply to entry into the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic implements the European traffic light system, according to which countries are assigned to the categories green, orange, red, dark red or gray depending on their infection and test rate. Germany is currently assigned to the red category, which is why

entry is only permitted for a valid reason

. These include, for example,

work

or studies. Family visits are only allowed if they are exercising custody or caring for and supporting relatives, the Federal Foreign Office informs.

Anyone entering the Czech Republic must first fill out an entry form ("Passenger Location Form") online.

In addition, travelers must present a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours or an antigen test that is not older than 24 hours.

The test result must be included in writing.

After entry there is a quarantine obligation that can only be ended with a second negative test result.

The second test must be carried out within five days of entry and sent to the responsible hygiene authority.

Only then is the quarantine officially over.

transitional period of ten days to May 12th, the

test is no longer compulsory

.

The obligation to quarantine after entering Germany also does not apply to cross-border commuters in Bavaria and Saxony.

However, commuters still have to register once a week if they cross the border at least once a week.

Cross-border commuters must be able to prove their status with a certificate from the employer or client.

The vaccination must be at least 14 days ago.

Bavaria has also overturned the quarantine requirement for entry from risk areas for corona vaccinated people *.

It is important to have a vaccination certificate that has been vaccinated at least 15 days ago and is available in German, English or French.
