A 31-year-old woman, mother of three, died after being burned alive by her companion on Tuesday afternoon in Mérignac (Gironde), police sources reported.

Shortly before 6.30 p.m., in the middle of the street, the man shot his partner in the legs, who collapsed.
He then doused her with gasoline, while she was alive and set her on fire.
The 44-year-old was arrested shortly after the incident by the police, according to the same source.
The pavilion where the couple lived was set on fire in unspecified circumstances.
In 2020, 90 feminicides were officially recorded in France, against 146 the previous year.
