The head of the local government announces that the Prosecutor's Office and an international company will analyze what happened, while Ebrard makes himself available to the authorities: "He who owes nothing, fears nothing."

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, assured this Tuesday that the collapse of the Mexico City subway that caused 24 deaths and 79 people hospitalized on Monday night will be investigated "thoroughly".

"

A thorough investigation is going to be carried out

, without regard of any kind, seeking to know the truth, what really happened," said López Obrador (nicknamed AMLO) in his morning conference from the National Palace.

"Nothing will be hidden," he added, because "the people of Mexico have to know the whole truth."

The president also said that he supports the "position" of the Government of Mexico City, which moments before had announced

a double expert opinion, both from the General Prosecutor's Office of the capital and from an independent international company.

"Things are not hidden, they speak the truth, do not lie, do not steal and do not betray the people, and every day they will be reporting on this unfortunate matter," said the Mexican president.

López Obrador indicated that, based on the two expert opinions, "responsibility" will be established, and asked not to "fall into the field of speculation" about what happened.

In addition, he sent a "sincere and fraternal hug" to the families of the victims.

"We cannot speculate," says the CDMX head of government about the causes of the accident in the metro

The collapse occurred around 10:20 on Monday night between the Olivos and Tezonco stations of line 12 of the Mexico City metro, a work that had already presented failures despite being the most modern of the rail system.

In a video from the surveillance cameras of the local government, it is observed how the elevated structure breaks as the train passes, which collapses from a height of about 65 feet (20 meters) impacting at least two carriages against the ground.

"The Attorney General's Office must carry out an expert opinion that began last night, but we are also looking for an international company with both in subway and in structural matters so that it can

carry out an external technical expert opinion and be able to reach the causes of this unfortunate incident,

"declared Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government of the Mexican capital.

Questioned by the press, Sheinbaum insisted on several occasions that the expert opinions will help to find out "what happened."

"

My position is that we must get to the truth of the causes of this unfortunate incident

and that for this we need experts from both the Attorney General's Office and an external and impartial entity that does the expert opinion and all the studies," he stressed.

The official explained that 490 buses are working today in the area to offer mobility to users of this metro line.

Why is the chancellor of Mexico related to this event?

Line 12 of the metro has been surrounded by controversy since its launch.

It ended on October 30, 2012, when the current Mexican Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, was mayor of the capital.

But it

was closed in March 2014 due to failures

and reopened from October to November (in several sections) in 2015.

When consulted by the press, Ebrard described the incident as the most "terrible" suffered in the subway and expressed solidarity with the victims: "I share the outrage that exists, I celebrate the position of the head of government, which is essentially to clarify what happened and second, when you clarify what happened with evidence, with elements, then establish what responsibilities there are, who has responsibility and

that they act accordingly, no matter who it is

. "

He recalled that the work was definitively "delivered" in July 2013, after a seven-month "review".

"Beyond those and other data, well tell you that he who acts with integrity should not fear anything, he who owes nothing, fears nothing. But I am subject, like everyone else, but more like a high official and who promoted the construction of the line,

I am subject to what the authorities determine

, "he concluded.
