The Administration of the president, Joe Biden, said on Tuesday that
70% of the adult population (about 160 million people) will receive at least one dose of the vaccine
against COVID-19 by this July 4, which would bring the country closer to the long-awaited "herd immunity" against the coronavirus pandemic.
To achieve this, he
proposes eliminating the appointment required to get vaccinated and deploying even more mobile clinics
throughout the country.
"The goal is to achieve a herd immunity in order to normalize our lives," said a senior White House official at a press conference prior to Biden's speech this afternoon.

At this stage of the mass vaccination campaign, the Administration announced that
the vaccines will be distributed to 40,000 pharmacies throughout the country
and that it will ask all states to eliminate the requirement to obtain an appointment to be inoculated.
To achieve this goal, the Government will allocate 250 million dollars that will be delivered to community organizations to hire and mobilize labor and health personnel who will operate
mobile clinics in rural areas, with difficult access, which have also been the hardest hit by infections.
$ 130 million will also be earmarked for educational information efforts to
“bridge the health disparity” in the poorest communities.
These are often also Latino and black communities.

Another $ 250 million will be given "immediately to state and municipal governments" so that they can use it in their vaccination programs.
In addition, the Administration said that it will invest an additional
100 million dollars in approximately 4,600 clinics in rural areas
in the country, as well as 860 million dollars that will serve to increase the capacity of tests to detect new infections.
These have been growing among the younger population, those under 18, who had remained relatively protected from the worst onslaught of the pandemic.

Biden is just slated to announce this afternoon efforts to green-light the emergency use of the vaccine in children among adolescents.
Also this Tuesday, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer announced that it plans to request in September this year
the approval for an emergency use of its vaccine against COVID-19 in children of all ages.
At the moment, the Pfizer vaccine, which requires two doses, is authorized to be inoculated in those over 16 years of age.
An analysis by Noticias Telemundo found that, in terms of health and specifically in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic,
Biden has fulfilled in his first 100 days in office most of the promises he made
before assuming the presidency, to late January. But others have yet to materialize.
