Biden to the regent of the Emirates: Normalization with Israel is of strategic importance

US President Joe Biden said tonight (Tuesday) in a telephone conversation with the regent of Abu Dhabi and the acting ruler of the United Arab Emirates Muhammad bin Zayed that "normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is of strategic importance. I support strengthening and expanding these arrangements."
This is the first phone call between the two since Biden took office on January 20.
The normalization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates was signed last September.
The signed agreement stipulates that the two countries will establish diplomatic relations and full normalization, and that their relations will take place in accordance with the UN Charter, with the parties to the agreement respecting each other's sovereignty and committing to resolving conflicts only peacefully.

Last month it was reported that Biden had updated Congress that it had decided to advance the arms deal with the UAE.
The deal, which includes UAVs and F-35s, was signed after the normalization agreement between the Emirates and Israel, and was halted upon the president's inauguration so he could review it.
