US President Joe Biden said tonight (Tuesday) in a telephone conversation with the regent of Abu Dhabi and the acting ruler of the United Arab Emirates Muhammad bin Zayed that "normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is of strategic importance. I support strengthening and expanding these arrangements."

This is the first phone call between the two since Biden took office on January 20.



The normalization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates was signed last September.

The signed agreement stipulates that the two countries will establish diplomatic relations and full normalization, and that their relations will take place in accordance with the UN Charter, with the parties to the agreement respecting each other's sovereignty and committing to resolving conflicts only peacefully.
