Geretsried - The Free Voters (FW) recently discussed parking fees, cycle paths and “parent zones” at the schools at the virtual regulars' table. With FW City Councilor Heiko Hawla, traffic officer and a professional driving instructor, an expert was available to answer questions. However, Hawla could not give an answer as to when the announced parking machines will be set up on Karl-Lederer-Platz. The city is waiting for the delivery, he said. Originally, Hawla explained, the city intended to make above-ground parking more expensive than underground parking in order to encourage people to use the garage.

The first and second half an hour there cost one euro each and the second hour 1.50 euros, so that with 61 minutes of parking time, you pay a whopping 3.50 euros for the ticket.

In her case, she received a voucher from the cashier for half an hour's stay at the Edeka and didn't have to pay anything in the garage.

But first and foremost, the newly designed T-Zone should be a place to stay, stressed City Councilor Heidi Dodenhöft.
Hawla agreed and added that the city also wanted to think much more about cyclists in the future.

As reported, Geretsried applied for the “Bicycle-friendly municipality” certificate. As part of this, a network of cycle paths is to be created. "We will resolve many unpleasant things for drivers," announced the FW traffic officer. A foretaste of this is Tempo 30 on the Böhmerwaldstraße. Hawla said the restriction was by no means that bad. During his driving lessons, he pressed the stopwatch a few times and found that you lose just twelve seconds if you drive 30 km / h instead of 50 km / h in the 30 range.
The Free Voters also consider the detour of around 200 meters around the underground car park entrance at Karl-Lederer-Platz, which cyclists currently have to take on the cycle path along the B11 towards Wolfratshausen, to be reasonable.
Hawla said the situation was safer than it was when you just crossed the street.
Appeal from the former mayor: Road users should be considerate of each other
The Free Voters see the crossing of Blumenstrasse at the B11 North Entrance as more problematic for pedestrians and cyclists.
In the long term, there should be a traffic light at this point.
However, the state building authority in Weilheim is responsible, explained Hawla.
“Unfortunately, that doesn't focus on the cyclists,” interjected Cornelia Irmer.
She appealed to all road users to be considerate of each other until a solution is found.
FW local chairwoman and city councilor Ann-Kathrin Güner wanted an immediate improvement in the form of a traffic light.
In future, “parenting zones” in front of the Isardamm elementary school, the Karl Lederer elementary school and the Waldorf school, where parents can bring and pick up their children by car, will ensure more safety.
For example, the zebra crossing in front of the Isardamm school is to be relocated.
