(CNN Spanish) -
The government of the state of Amazonas, in Brazil, reported this Monday that at least 20 people who were in a shelter in Manaus were injured by floods that affected the area.
The affected shelter is part of the federal government's Operation Welcome, created in 2018 to serve Venezuelan migrants and refugees.
A video of the event circulating on social networks, which CNN has not been able to verify independently, and which several local media have echoed, shows how what appears to be a rising river devastates the camp.
People can be seen clinging to different objects so as not to be carried away by the current.
According to the government of Amazonas, most of those affected suffered injuries and four people remain in different health centers near the area.
The level of severity of the victims who continue to be cared for is not specified.
Likewise, the government reported that it is working on the relocation of some 96 people affected by the incident.
The government reported this Monday night that 89 Venezuelans who were left homeless were transferred to a shelter in the Olympic Village in Manaus.
