“Frankly it's hot!

Come on, I'll call JoeyStarr!

»Says Alexandre Houpert, co-founder of the Studytracks application.

It is a review tool where lessons from the curriculum are synthesized into songs for easy retention.

In front of him, two 3rd year classes from the Louise-Weiss college, in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, have just performed a course on the Resistance offered on the platform.

This is one of the courses JoeyStarr raped and recorded for the app - the other two are about Freedom in Philosophy and the Dreyfus Affair.

Other artists have also collaborated there, such as Soprano.

While waiting for the rapper's voice on the phone, whispers roam the audience.

Alexandre Houpert hangs up and here is the rapper who makes a surprise appearance in the classroom.

The excitement redoubled.

The students turn to their friends, giggling and uttering exclamation cries.

“Ohhhh I can't believe it!

It feels weird, ”exclaims a schoolgirl.

The rapper then urges them to start their song again.

"Hey, I want something alive," he says to them.

The song finished, JoeyStarr and Alexandre Houpert congratulate the college students.

“Frankly, well done,” he adds.

The rapper joins the students for the photo, almost as thrilled as they are about the moment.

“You are wise!

I would have taken the opportunity to screw up the mess!

», He quips.

“We were shocked.

We didn't expect that!

», Ilyana confides, leaving.

“It is imposing,” notes Mahaut.

“Usually you see it through screens.

There it is in real life!

», Adds Léa.

The Louise-Weiss college is part of three establishments (with Georges-Charpak in Goussainville and Les Touleuses in Cergy) where the departmental council of Val-d'Oise has chosen to make this application available on an experimental basis.

“There are two ways to use it: either beforehand, or as a summary of a chapter,” explains Alexandre Houpert.

This entrepreneur created this tool with the successful British composer Georges Hammond Hagan.

The latter had the idea of making a sung version of a physics class to help his son who was having difficulties.

Designed as an application to fight against dropping out of school when it was created six years ago, it is open to all audiences.

The professors of the Louis-Weiss college who have been using it for a few weeks say they are convinced of its usefulness.

“We can see that it is really written by teachers,” emphasizes Kévin Faure, music teacher.

I have a French colleague who would be frustrated not to be able to use it next year.

"

“They offer a lot of songs at the start of the program,” says Régine, a history teacher.

She plans to use a song in geography on overseas land use planning.

"If the experiment is successful, it will be offered to all the colleges in the department", indicates Virginie Tinland (LR), vice-president of the departmental council in charge of education.
