The leader of Hamas' military wing, Muhammad Daf, warned Israel last night (Wednesday) that it would "pay a price" if "aggression is not stopped" against residents of Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem.
This is against the background of the intention to evacuate Palestinian families from their homes for the benefit of Jews.
Daf said that the Hamas leadership was closely following what was happening, and that this was a "clear and final warning."
"We will not stand aside, and the enemy will pay a heavy price," the leader of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades said in a brief and rare statement.
Daf has not spoken since the recording he released in the midst of Operation Resilient Cliff in 2014, during which another attempted assassination of Israel survived.
His wife and two of his children were killed in the same attack.

In recent times, Jerusalem has been the focus of clashes between security forces, Palestinians and members of the far right following the installation of checkpoints at the Nablus Gate after the beginning of Ramadan.
