On the occasion of the International Traffic Day, which falls on the fourth of May of each year, officers and members of the Traffic Police were honored at their work sites in a number of governorates today, in appreciation of the efforts they exert in order to control and regulate traffic.

In Quneitra, the governorate honored a number of officers and traffic police officers at their work sites.

The Governor of Quneitra, Abdel Halim Khalil, indicated during his visit a number of police officers in Al-Baath city and Khan Arnabeh to the importance of the role that traffic police officers and officers play in implementing regulations and laws and maintaining public safety.

A number of children from the Al-Baath Vanguards Organization branch presented flower bouquets to the police, and brochures were distributed to drivers and vehicle owners warning of the dangers of excessive speed and calling for adherence to traffic regulations and laws.

The honorees expressed their thanks for this gesture, affirming that they will continue to work to implement traffic regulations and traffic law.

In Al-Hasakah, the governorate police command honored a number of traffic police officers and personnel while exercising their duties at traffic points spread across the city center of al-Hasakah and in the traffic branch.

The Head of the Traffic Branch, Colonel Bashir Amanah, confirmed to the SANA reporter the importance of celebrating the World Traffic Day with traffic men present at traffic points over the course of twenty-four hours to regulate traffic, reduce accidents and suppress violations.

The honored police officers emphasized the importance of honoring and its moral significance to continue giving and exerting efforts to preserve the safety of citizens.

In Aleppo, the governorate police command honored a number of distinguished non-commissioned officers and members of the Traffic Branch for playing their role to the fullest in regulating traffic and controlling traffic in the main axes and secondary streets of the city.

Major General Essam Al-Shelly, the Governorate Police Commander, visited a number of traffic points at the University Square, Al-Furqan, and the Police Roundabout, and congratulated traffic officers and officers, also visited the Traffic Branch in Aleppo and viewed the mechanism of work in its departments, calling for good dealing with citizens and commitment to implementing the instructions and controls of the Traffic Law.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, Brigadier General Labib Youssef, head of the Aleppo Traffic Branch, explained the importance of the International Traffic Day to highlight the work of the traffic sector in controlling traffic, pointing to the need to spread awareness on this day and to reinforce the culture of adherence to traffic laws, noting the efforts made by traffic officers to reduce traffic accidents.

In Homs, the governorate police command honored traffic police officers and personnel, at the governorate's traffic branch.

The provincial police chief, Brigadier General Muhammad al-Faouri, indicated the keenness to implement regulations and laws and reduce traffic accidents, noting the efforts of the traffic police and internal security forces who work around the clock to improve the traffic facility and reduce traffic accidents.

Brigadier Radwan Al-Hajji, Head of the Traffic Branch in Homs, confirmed that the branch, in cooperation with the City Council, placed several awareness-raising banners in various parts of the city in order to raise awareness of the need to adhere to the traffic rules.

A number of traffic police officers and personnel expressed their concern for the safety of citizens and their full readiness to implement the traffic law and address all violations in this regard.

The honor was attended by the Governor of Homs, Eng. Bassam Parasik, Omar Houria, Secretary of the Homs branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Hafez Khunsar, head of the Homs Workers Union, and Suleiman al-Mull, head of the Land Transport Union in Homs.

Brigadier General Radwan Al-Hajji and Suleiman Al-Mull also visited a number of families of martyrs from the Traffic Police branch, who rose in 2013 due to terrorist shells that hit the Traffic Branch.

In Lattakia, the Revolutionary Youth Union branch, in cooperation with the Traffic Police Branch, organized a dialogue seminar on the runway of the Martyr Yusef Al-Azma School in Medina, where First Lieutenant Issa Buzan, a “Traffic Branch Officer”, gave an introductory overview of the traffic organization, its origins, the foundations and rules that regulate its work and the responsibility entrusted to the police. Yazan Atali, Chairman of the Media and Informatics Committee in the Martyr Imad Eddin Deeb Association, pointed to the importance of awareness-raising meetings to spread traffic culture, especially among the younger generation.
