Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck warn their customers about dubious callers.
The electricity supplier even speaks of “telephone columns” for energy supply contracts.
Customers have been reporting this to the municipal utilities for more than 14 days.
Fürstenfeldbruck district - sellers of third-party electricity providers put public utility customers under massive pressure over the phone to reveal their customer data. With this data, new energy supply contracts are then concluded without the consent of the person called, ”reports Tanja Bernard, head of the customer center at Stadtwerke. “The salespeople are becoming increasingly brazen and more aggressive”. They told of planned price increases, delivery bottlenecks or better conditions. This is all fictitious.
Older people or people with poor knowledge of German are particularly targeted by dubious callers.
"This is cold calling, which is generally prohibited by law," says Tanja Bernard.
The municipal utilities advise their customers to be very careful with information on meter numbers or readings.
The calls are usually made via an unknown mobile number or a landline number with a Munich area code.
As soon as the question about personal data is asked, the conversation should be ended.
If someone is unsure, it would be best to contact the public utilities themselves, phone (0 81 41) 40 11 11. Anyone who has already concluded a contract with the dubious callers can revoke it within 14 days.
