The Security Bureau stated that as of the end of March this year, the Education Bureau had received 25 complaints or requests for help involving police officers’ children being bullied at schools, nine of which involved teachers suspected of bullying students.
In addition, the Hospital Authority has received 43 complaints referred by the police, involving staff attitudes, operational arrangements or communication.
In response to a written question from the Legislative Council, the Security Bureau stated that the Education Bureau has taken follow-up actions on complaints established after investigation, and the school has also taken disciplinary actions against the teachers and students involved.
The Security Bureau emphasizes that it will never accept bullying of police officers' children or unfair treatment of police officers.
The Education Bureau stated that it will follow up each case in a serious manner, and will issue letters of persuasion, warning or reprimand to the teachers concerned based on the seriousness of the true cases, and even consider canceling the registration of the teachers in accordance with the Education Ordinance.
The Security Bureau replied that out of 25 complaints involving the children of police officers being bullied at school, 16 cases involved students' speech or uncoordinated relationship, and 9 cases involved teachers suspected of bullying students.
According to the authorities, in response to incidents of bullying among students, schools must immediately stop misconduct, reassess the situation of the students involved, and provide appropriate assistance. They will also arrange counselling staff to assist the bullied as needed, or further seek social workers or psychologists. Support and mediation from other professionals.
In addition, the HA has also received 43 complaints referred by the police, involving staff attitudes, communication or operational arrangements, etc. The HA has completed 42 investigations and reminded staff to pay attention to professional attitudes and communicate with patients or the public. Personal communication, the HA has handled individual cases of disciplinary violations in accordance with established personnel procedures.
