The United Nations today reiterated its firm position regarding the illegality of the settlement activities carried out by the Israeli occupation entity in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The United Nations News Center quoted a United Nations spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, as saying at the daily press conference that "our position is constant and does not change ... all settlement actions, including displacement and demolition, are illegal under international law."
In response to concerns about the risk of displacement of dozens of Palestinians from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem, Dujarric clarified that, based on Security Council Resolution 2334, which demanded the Israeli entity to stop settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, the international community will not recognize any change that occurs. On the 1967 borders, especially with regard to Jerusalem.
Earlier today, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed its demand for the UN Security Council to assume its legal and moral responsibilities towards the continuing crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and implement the relevant UN resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2334, which calls for a halt to settlement activity.
