The rush was great: when the vaccination campaign began on Tuesday afternoon in Weilheim, many people were already waiting to be vaccinated with Astrazeneca.

They accepted the wait - some even brought a folding chair, newspaper or book with them.

Weilheim

- Siegfried Rieder was really satisfied.

"I'm fine, thank you for your effort," said the 65-year-old from Weilheim cheerfully to an employee of the hospital.

“That worked out fine.” Then he went out with his vaccination certificate and other documents.

Freshly supplied with a dose of Astrazeneca.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rieder was one of the first to receive the vaccination campaign at the Medical Care Center (MVZ) in Weilheim.

Together, the Peißenberg vaccination center and the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH hospital made it possible for all district residents over 60 to be vaccinated without registering.

The first were there two hours before the start

Many did not have to be said twice.

The first were ready at 2 p.m.

Around 3:30 p.m., around 60 people were waiting.

The snake grew for a long time.

From 4 p.m., 15 people were allowed through the lock at the same time - with distance and masks, of course -: After the fever measurement, the registration was due, then it was off to the treatment room.

After the education, they were vaccinated and before they went home, everyone had to sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes - if there were any problems.

To avoid unnecessary contacts, the entrance and exit were separate, everything went in one direction.

“Everything is very structured here,” said Anne Ertel, Nursing Director at Krankenhaus GmbH.

The second vaccination is already regulated for everyone.

There should be a joint appointment for everyone in around eleven weeks.

Ertel and nursing manager Sandra Buchner saw the steadily growing queue on Tuesday.

"We are in contact with the vaccination center and can always reorder vaccines," said Buchner.

“And we are prepared for a long night anyway.” At the time of going to press, the campaign was still running.

Some don't want to get sick, others want to regain their freedoms

No wonder: after all, 60 to 70-year-olds currently have a hard time getting a vaccination. Many in line reported that they had already registered with the vaccination center and family doctor. “I've been waiting five weeks,” said Ferdinand Stork. When the 69-year-old from Weilheim received the newspaper report on the vaccination campaign from his brother, it was clear to him that he was going. Above all, to regain freedom. “You can't go anywhere without proof,” he said.

Isabel Fischer could think of numerous reasons in favor of a vaccination.

"I want to be sure not to get Covid-19," said the 62-year-old from Weilheim.

“And I want to be sure not to infect dear people.” On top of that, she's looking forward to visiting museums, going out to eat, and singing together in a choir.

In return, she accepted the waiting time on Tuesday afternoon and relaxed reading a book.

Others had even brought a folding chair with them.

Marianne Sterff from Weilheim needed none of this. The 65-year-old was relatively far ahead. "I think it's important to get vaccinated to get the pandemic under control," she said. "I would like to meet friends again, I am concerned with normal life." She likes to be vaccinated for this. "Prick, off, done - I'm not afraid of that."
