Police today (Wednesday) arrested a 34-year-old Bnei Brak resident on suspicion of taking his son, a newborn baby, without a permit from the preterm birth department at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
According to the suspicion, the father put his son in a box and rode with him on the electric bicycle to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.
After the father was arrested, the baby was returned to Ichilov Hospital when his condition was stable.
The Ichilov Hospital responded that "a well-known father with a medical background abducted his premature son from the crib at the hospital where he was hospitalized, and fled with him despite the staff's opposition outside the ward. He managed to slip with his bicycle with the baby outside the hospital. Chamal immediately began a search and finally the father was located at the entrance to Sheba Hospital, where he was arrested for questioning and his baby son was immediately hospitalized for further treatment in a stable condition.
The hospital opened an investigation into the incident and reported it to all relevant parties. "
