The branch of the National Microfinance Corporation in Sweida granted, during the past two months, 570 loans with a value of about 670 million pounds.
In a statement to the SANA Economic Newsletter, Director of the Corporation's branch, Tamim Nasr, said that the granted loans were distributed by 164 loans worth about 340 million pounds to finance small commercial, agricultural and crafts projects, while 406 immediate loans worth 330 million pounds were granted to people with limited income from workers in the public and private sectors and professionals and craftsmen. And farmers, especially those who were able to provide guarantees in banks previously.
Nasr indicated that the institution, which is on the way to converting to a bank after the issuance of Law 8, worked during the last period to raise the ceiling of a single loan for small projects from 5 to 25 million, and increased the maximum repayment period from 4 to 8 years, and also reduced the interest that was between 12 and 18 Percent to between 6 and 12 percent, according to the project and the loan, in addition to launching the immediate loan with a ceiling of one million pounds, pointing out that the Foundation is working to support and enhance the role of small enterprises, which contributes to improving the level of income and securing job opportunities.
The branch of the National Microfinance Corporation in the As-Suwayda governorate plays an important developmental role through the loans it provides according to the facilities that support the implementation of new projects or support small projects on the ground.
